James began his career as fixed income quantitative trader at CPR France in 1997, in yield curve arbitrage on various fixed income products. Then he was Convertible Bonds proprietary trader for 10 years with ING Paris and FORTIS BANK London before joining GENERALI INVESTMENTS, in 2009 as a fixed income fund manager. James was Head of Convertible Bonds management at ABN AMRO in Paris for 4 years before joining the Fixed Income and Convertible Bonds management team at CANDRIAM in 2018.He left CANDRIAM in 2022 to create Qantara AM.

Before that, he was Global Head of Investment at Platinum Capital Management Ltd., a global asset management platform, where his responsibilities included overseeing the firm’s actively managed funds (hedge funds, equities, volatility, and commodities). Laurent’s early career included spells at BNP Paribas SA, Lazard LLC, GLG Partners LP, and Signia Wealth. He graduated from Institut d’Etudes Politiques and Institut d’Administration des Entreprises, both in France, from INSEAD (France-Singapore). This started a security focused career that led to founding Sibylline. He continues to serve as a Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank commander with the Royal Wessex Yeomanry, and as a tactics instructor for new commanders.
