Sean Sargent is a delivery-focused CEO with vast programme leadership experience and a track record of successfully delivering complex infrastructure projects critical to national security. He has been involved in projects ranging from £100m to £15bn, and has held recent senior director positions at Jacobs Engineering – including as Group Director for Government Solutions, Project Services Director at Royal Devonport and Head of Division for Nuclear Power – as well as project/site director roles at Magnox. Sean is driven by a desire to use his skills and experience to help solve the environmental challenges that face the world today.

At Green Lithium we are building the UK’s first large-scale merchant lithium refinery, creating a European supply of low-carbon, battery-grade lithium hydroxide to sell into the EV supply chain. Ultimately, without localised supply the UK and EU automotive sectors will fail. Our refinery will produce 50,000 tonnes of lithium each year, representing ~6% of Europe’s vast 2030 lithium demand, and enough to produce one million EVs. Using best-in-class clean technologies and processes we will drive down the industry’s carbon emissions – our independently-assessed base plan shows a 75% overall emissions reduction versus current refineries, all of which are in China.
Targeting 20x returns, we are running a ‘Series A’ equity fundraise to secure £16m of investment to take us to ‘shovel ready’ for construction in 2023. A portion of this £16m has already been committed by global commodities Trafigura, with whom we have partnered to help secure our raw material.
