Private Investment Club (PIC), launched in October 2014 by Global Partnership Family Offices and Tyrian Capital, provides deal flow and networking opportunities to family offices seeking direct private equity and real-estate co-investment opportunities, primarily sourced from or anchored  by other family offices.

“We see significant and increasing demand for direct investment opportunities from ultra-high-net-worth investors who prefer to do their own due diligence and make their own decisions without the assistance and associated costs of an investment manager,” says Richard Fulton, founder of Tyrian. “Most experienced investors originate direct deals through their own networks. PIC aims to augment this by providing members access to broader direct deal flow without compromising quality, focus or privacy and regular opportunities to network with like-minded investors.”

Independent deal sourcing and filtering
PIC is truly independent and not biased by an overarching bank or family. Deals are sourced from the broad PIC network then filtered to ensure quality and focus. PIC is underpinned by  the Investment Review Board (IRB) that reviews and filters deals to ensure only high-quality opportunities are introduced to members. The IRB is composed of active investors and leading advisors with expertise across the spectrum  of direct investing.

Deals must be positively reviewed by at least two IRB members before being introduced to members,  but co-investment opportunities anchored by a PIC member that has carried out full due diligence may  be excluded from this formal review process.
Deal flow is also filtered to ensure members are only introduced to deals they will be interested in. “To achieve this we meet potential members to understand their investment preferences and requirements. This is a quick process, ensures deal flow is focused and is required  to become a PIC member,” says Fulton.

It is also important to share deal information efficiently and discreetly. Global Partnership’s  Pharos online portal is used to share non-confidential information with PIC members.

PIC deals
Current live deals include venture capital opportunities in PingTune and Maiyet that were introduced to investors at successful networking  events at the end of 2014.
“We are currently reviewing deals in the real-estate, fintech, luxury, healthy beverages and leisure sectors,  but are keen to see other new family office co-investment oppotunities,” says Fulton. “Now that PIC is successfully up and running we will be reaching out to family offices in early 2015 to discuss membership and deal flow.”
